REFLECTIVE TASSEL DIY

Creating your own designs or adding a personal touch to an existing product is trendy. Making a DIY reflective tassel is definitely doable! Start by choosing a carabiner of an appropriate size. A metal carabiner is easiest to work with, but plastic or wood are also viable options. For the best aesthetics, match the carabiner to the metal parts of the bag, with gold or silver being the easiest colors to match. You can also spray paint or hand paint the carabiner with metallic paint or a color that suits your chosen material.

Next, select a material for your reflective tassel. This could be, for example, an old reflective harness or vest. The material can be polyester and PU leather, a vegan alternative to leather, also known as artificial leather. Cut a long strip from the reflector material—the longer, the better! Then, cut fringes along one long side of the strip. Roll the strip up and attach it to the carabiner.

Creating a reflective tassel in black can be challenging. This is because black is essentially an absence of color, making it difficult for the tassel to reflect light. While black reflectors may look stylish, they are hardly functional.
